With the expansion of the route network to include the Düsseldorf — Budapest connection, Helrom now offers an even greater range for sustainable and barrier-free intermodal freight transport in Europe. The new route enables shippers and freight forward- ers to reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 90 percent while using a reliable and efficient transport solution.
A new route for sustainable and efficient freight transport The connection between Düsseldorf and Budapest will begin operations on October 2. It stretches over 1,200 kilometers. Freight forwarders can deliver their trailers until late in the evening. After just 30 hours, they will be ready for collection at their destination the morning after next. Daily departures are planned in both directions six days a week. Each train transports 36 trailers, which corresponds to a weekly capacity of 432 truck trailers. The catchment areas include Hungary, Slovakia and parts of Romania as well as the Ruhr region, Benelux and Great Britain on the Düsseldorf side.
Reliable and barrier-free intermodal transport, even for time-critical shipments Thanks to their own trains, their own personnel and fixed timetables, Helrom trailer transports achieve a service quality and punctuality comparable to road transport. Time-critical goods such as food and automotive components can be transported without any problems. This also offers medium-sized compa- nies an ideal solution for organizing sustainable transport flexibly and cost-effectively. Roman Noack, CEO of Helrom, emphasizes: »The elimination of special terminals for loading and the ability to quickly and easily place non-craneable truck trailers and reefer trailers on the rail enables freight forwarders and shippers to enter intermodal rail transport with- out additional investment.«
Net Zero Transport with social working conditions With the new route, Helrom is continuing its mission to enable CO₂-neutral freight transport across Europe. In addition to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and easing the burden on road infrastructure, the Helrom transport concept also promotes socially responsible working conditions in transport logistics. The combination of road and rail enables freight forwarders to focus more on short-haul routes, which is not only more efficient, but also makes it easier to plan working hours. This improves the compatibility of work and family life, which contributes to the attractiveness of the profession and can help alleviate the driver shortage in the long term. »Helrom therefore offers not only ecological but also social benefits and is working towards a sustainable and future-oriented transport infrastructure,« explains Roman Noack.
