«With an apprenticeship rate of 7.9%, not only have we exceeded our competitors’ number of apprentices significantly, but we’ve ranked among the top large companies in Switzerland that train the most apprentices for many years. We make use of the dual apprenticeship system and educate our young professionals ourselves. More than two thirds of the apprentices who have completed their programmes start their first job with us and become long-term employees. It’s a statistic that speaks for itself, and we’re proud to be able to provide young people with comprehensive support on their career path,» says André Krause, CEO of Sunrise. Sunrise regularly records a 100% success rate with its apprentices, and has done so for years. This was also the case in 2024 – and one of our Sunrise apprentices even achieved the highest practical-exam score of all aspiring professionals for customer dialogue in Switzerland as a whole.
Full commitment to training and mentoring Successes like these are the result of a high level of commitment to training and mentoring apprentices. Sunrise has expanded its job range steadily, and starting in August 2024, Sunrise will be training a total of 203 apprentices as commercial specialists, in retail, customer dialogue or mediamatics, as well as ICT and IT specialists. From 2025, we will also be offering apprenticeships for multimedia electronics technicians for the first time. With 203 apprentices working the equivalent of around 2,560 full-time roles, Sunrise has achieved an apprenticeship rate of 7.9%, which is more than double that of the average large company in Switzerland (3.7%, equivalent to 250 or more full-time roles) and also about 30% higher than the rate of ICT Berufsbildung Schweiz, the Swiss association for vocational training. When training and supervising apprentices, Sunrise makes sure that apprentices are treated as equals and fully integrated into their various teams. Apprentices have access to state-of-the-art infrastructures, such as the «Digital Avengers Lab», which has its own photo and podcast studio for aspiring mediamatics specialists. We also focus on giving apprentices the opportunity to establish contacts and interact with peers in their respective age group who work in different areas. To this end, apprentices meet at camps twice a year and work on an overarching project topic, such as «sustainability» or «budget». In August, they will be meeting at the «Welcome Days» to get to know each other and the company.
