Homann Holzwerkstoffe GmbH draws a first conclusion of the full year 2021 and the current effects of the Russia-Ukraine conflict on the business situation
Munich, March 8, 2022 - Homann Holzwerkstoffe GmbH, a leading European supplier of thin, refined wooden fibreboards for the furniture, doors and coatings industries, draws an initial positive conclusion of the full year 2021. According to preliminary figures, revenues rose to well over EUR 300 million (previous year: EUR 263 million). The company's EBITDA also grew strongly. Homann Holzwerkstoffe currently expects an EBITDA margin of over 20% for the past financial year. The order situation remained very good at the beginning of the fiscal year 2022. In the first two months, there continued to be high demand for the company's HDF and MDF boards. Homann Holzwerkstoffe expects demand to remain high in the coming months. While the situation in Ukraine and the sanctions imposed on Russia as a result of it lead to revenue losses with Russian customers in the lower single-digit percentage of Group revenues, these are offset by higher demand from other countries due to the changed competitive situation. In addition, neither the Polish plants nor the planned new plant in Lithuania are currently significantly affected by the present events. Given that Homann Holzwerkstoffe does not source wood from Russia, Belarus or Ukraine but organizes the procurement of wood locally, no negative effects are foreseeable in this respect either. The current increase in gas and glue prices will probably be reflected in rising energy and material costs, in line with the economy as a whole, the extent and development of which cannot be estimated yet. The investment in Lithuania will continue to be implemented as planned. The company currently assumes that the effects of the existing conflict will remain within manageable limits, because here, too, the Russian market is hardly relevant in terms of sales, and key suppliers and service providers for the construction of the plant have been commissioned locally or from the western part of Europe. About Homann Holzwerkstoffe Headquartered in Munich, Homann Holzwerkstoffe GmbH is a leading supplier of thin, high-quality finished medium-density and high-density fibreboards (MDF/HDF). With production plants in Losheim am See, Germany, as well as Karlino and Krosno/Oder, Poland, the Group serves the global furniture, doors and coatings industries, with the main focus on the European markets. The family-owned company looks back on a long tradition and has been established on the capital market since 2012.
