Munich/Budapest, July 8, 2025 – ParTec AG (ISIN: DE000A3E5A34 / WKN: A3E5A3) and the Hungarian company 3D Lézertechnika Zrt. have signed a letter of intent to implement one of the largest AI and energy infrastructure projects in Central Europe with multiple billions EUR investment volume. The “Paks Data Centre Campus, BESS & Agro-Photovoltaic Energy Park” project combines a state-of-the-art modular hyperscale AI data center with sustainable energy generation, innovative storage technology, and strong roots in the Hungarian HPC, AI, and quantum computing landscape. ParTec AG will deliver the hyperscale AI-Data Center with quantum computing integration possibility.

The location near the Hungarian nuclear power plant in Paks combines three important elements. At its heart is a next-generation modular AI data centre with a power consumption of up to 96 MW, designed for hyperscale and AI-focused data processing. In addition, a large agro-photovoltaic park will be built on an initial area of 530 hectares to generate solar power for the AI data centre. A powerful battery system also ensures power grid stability and a continuous and sustainable supply of power. The immediate proximity to the power plant also guarantees a particularly efficient and flexible energy supply. The waste heat from the data centre will be used in a sustainable way for the adjacent agricultural operations - energy production and agriculture go hand in hand.

The project is closely linked to Hungary's highly innovative and dynamically growing AI and quantum computing landscape. With its central location in Europe, favourable tax and energy conditions, and a large pool of highly trained specialists, Hungary offers an attractive location for the project.

ParTec AG is contributing its over 25 years of expertise and proven technology in high-performance computing, AI and quantum technology, thereby strengthening Europe's digital sovereignty. The modular AI data center will be based on ParTec’s dynamic Modular System Architecture (dMSA). Additionally, it will include ParTec’s ParaStation Modulo Software Suite. Both combined, allow for speed, scalability, flexibility, and efficiency. Furthermore, ParTec will be responsible for potential quantum computing integration. Due to its technologies, ParTec’s quantum technology integration is hardware agnostic. The regular operation of the data centre is scheduled to begin in 2027.

With an investment volume in the single-digit billion range, the project underscores its central strategic importance for future development in the field of high-performance computing, AI and quantum computing technologies. A significant part of the investment will go toward expanding and establishing the infrastructure, which will be carried out primarily by 3D Lézertechnika Zrt. ParTec AG is responsible for the delivery and integration of the supercomputer systems. This part of the project will be financed by ParTec AG in cooperation with a strategic financing partner with whom ParTec is already in advanced negotiations to create additional planning security and accelerate the implementation of the overall project.

Background:

This announcement is the third AI-Data Center project ParTec has made public in the recent months, after ELBJUWEL in Germany and VESUVIO in Italy. ParTec is a key technological partner in some of Europe’s most powerful supercomputers. The latest one is JUPITER, Europe’s first Exascale Supercomputer. It is the 4th fastest in the world, and the most energy-efficient one among the first 5 in the top500 list.
